About Tim Owings

I was born 7/17/1967. I started playing drums at age 10. From there music has been a central force in my life. I played in rock bands since I was 13. First as a drummer and then, discovering my voice, I became a lead singer. I was still drumming however so like Phil Collins I tackled both duties. My first band playing out in this situation was Trixx. We were a trio that played around the Columbus, Ohio area. Mostly at the AlRosa Villa. We opened for bands like The Almighty Strut, Rosie and Money. We did headline at the AlRosa quite a few times as well. This band lasted from 85 to 89. I then joined Shock Tu just as a lead singer. This was a pretty popular band before I joined and we played Ohio and Texas with good success. This band lasted from 91 to 94. I then formed a band with Jim Miller, Dan Boyd and Bryon Shepherd called Nurse Ratched. This was my favorite. A hard rock band with kick ass musicians. We lasted a few years. I then started playing out acoustically in different forms. Having band names called Magical Ingredient,Mr Kleen,Funky Blue and most recent Crush the Room. This band has Dan Boyd on drums, Todd Berry on bass, Steve Mitchell on guitar and of course me. I also play in a duo with Todd Berry called Two Blind Mice. After all these years of playing with bands I figured out that I get just as much musical gratification being an acoustic act. I put together a catalog of songs and I've been gigging out for about 12 years now. I play with a drum machine and alot of harmonica. I'm in the process of recording a cd at Moo Pigface recording studio in Columbus, Ohio. It's gonna be a one take cd. Just me,my guitar and harmonica. Turn on the tape machine and let me go! I have hundreds of originals I've written over the years and I want to get them recorded.
